Tallit Commission: A Time for Machine Embroidery from Gefilte Quilt

Here's my latest commission, and although I live in California, and the client lives in the southeast USA, it was made with help from one of the best Judaica machine embroiderers on the planet, Marilyn Levy of Ontario, Canada. It's a tallit (prayer shawl) for a young man's bar mitzvah.

Like all my commissions, this one started out with a  discussion with the young man's family. They wanted cotton, with a leafy design, in blue and grey, so I drew up choices.

They liked #1 best, the simple vines. What was most unusual - and why they ...

A Little of My Story. Stitching, Reading and Gratitude! from Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer

  THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK

As I was writing the third part of The Cycle of Comfort, I felt like it's time to take a break from "Truth Be Told". I would like to share a bit about myself and hope I don't bore you!  :)

I'll start with these verses as they are my calling:

1 The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me,

because the Lord has anointed me

to proclaim good news to the poor.

He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,

to proclaim freedom  for the captives

and release from darkness for ...

The Cycle of Comfort Part 1. Book Date. Stash Report. To Do Tuesday. Slow Stitching. I Like. from Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer

 THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK

The Cycle of Comfort Part 1

This song is so relevant to our social media world today.

I love Matthew West's list of lies in his song, Truth Be Told.

Lie #1:  "You're supposed to have it all together.  When they ask how your are say, 'Never better.' "

Lie #2:  "Everybody's life is perfect except yours, so keep your messes and your wounds
and your secrets safe with you behind closed doors"

I so agree with him:  the truth is rarely told or shared.

In keeping our secrets secret, we are missing ...

He is Our Defender. Stitching, Reading, Crocheting. and " My Likes"! from Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer

 Hello There!

Happy Mother's Day to you all - to include the non-traditional mothers as well!  My sister does such a fantastic job of managing my parents' care, that I made her an honorary mom and we celebrated her as well!

It was wonderful to all get together again and actually hug each other!

Lot's happening in my crafty life as well!  Let's get on with this weekly post!

Song of the Week:  Defender by Francesca Battistelli

We have all at one time or another needed our Defender, our Lord.  During these times, the best spiritual weapon is ...

A Week of Jesus, Stitching, Reading, and Crocheting. and "Likes"! from Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer

Hello There,

This past week has had a few more challenges than usual. I know I'm not the only blogger who faces challenges in life, but wow!  I sure admire those of you who can blog consistently despite life's curve balls!  My hat is off to all you!

However, I must make changes to meet these unpredictable challenges.  After much thought, I've decided to write one post a week and continue linking up to all my usual parties.

Another change is I will be posting daily on my Instagram account (user name:  miaismine22).  This account is private ...

Saturday's Song: Only Jesus. Slow Stitching: Binding and Prayer Shawls. Stash Report. Book Date. from Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer

Hello There,

Happy Easter!  The tomb is empty!

He is risen indeed!

Praise God!

How I've missed you all!  Unexpected events popped up which took over our lives for a bit.  Now, thankfully,  everyone is fine and we are all adjusting to a new normal.

One of our adjustments is a low-fat diet - which I'm loving!  Full disclosure:  I do treat myself to the occasional donut from Krispy Kreme when I visit my parents!

Another change is that I have dived a bit more into  scrapbooking planning with the Happy Planners.  It's been fun sharing memories as ...

Saturday’s Song: Rise by Danny Gokey. Slow Stitching on Sundays. Stash Report. from Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer

Saturday’s Song:  Rise by Danny Gokey

On the weekend, I share a song and sometimes the story behind the song.  Today, I want to start with Danny Gokey's testimony, which some of you may remember from previous posts.

Danny Gokey presented this fabulous and important video about Rise! Please watch it, take his words to heart and share the video with someone you know who is struggling with depression.

And now, the song, Rise.

Let's take that step and rise....and then help someone else rise.  Yes?

Monday's Strength. Scrappy Love. Pressing On. Book Date. from Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer

Monday's Strength:

Now that we've finished the verses from Until We Reach Home, I was wondering where to go from here.  For now, I want to share this verse that speaks of gratefulness.
You see, we, my husband and I, had a COVID scare, but thankfully we both tested negative!
As you can well imagine, it’s been hard to find time or even enough focus to blog or craft.
I'm so grateful for these results, that I just want to read about gratefulness!  I want God to know that my heart is grateful to Him for ...

Saturday’s Song: Priceless. Another Prayer Shawl and The Truck. Stash Report and a Question. from Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer

Saturday’s Song:  Priceless by For King and Country

Priceless.
Irreplaceable.
Unmistakable.
Incomparable.
That’s who we are in God’s eyes.
Period.
.

So when others try to make us feel as “less than”, remember Psalm 139:14.

Then, pray for that person who tried to make you smaller so that they could feel bigger.
Because,
in God’s eyes,
they are also
Priceless.
Irreplaceable.
Unmistakable.
Incomparable.
Right?

Slow Stitching:  A Prayer Shawl Takes Over, But The Truck is Chugging Along

I started another prayer shawl which is a high priority to finish quickly.  Someone we know has been hospitalized ...

Saturday's Song. Slow Stitching. Stash Report. from Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer

So, I'm trying out the new Blogger platform.  I've noticed the songs don't come out on my IPhone unless I switch to the web version.  The fonts are coming out funky, but other than those two issues, I think this post is ok.  I hope so!  :)
Saturday's Song

Worn by Tenth Avenue North
Several years ago, a friend shared this song with me and then she shared it again recently.  I praise God for her.
George Floyd's murder left me shocked, worn and introspective.
Change must come.
But first, in my opinion, we need to ...
